Equine Medical L.L.C. was established in West Michigan in 1995. Our exclusive dedication to horses allows us to focus on providing exceptional veterinary care. Our team consists of two highly experienced equine veterinarians and a dedicated support staff. We are driven by a shared passion for the well-being of our patients and clients. What sets us apart is our personal connection to horses. Each of our veterinarians and staff members has owned and exhibited horses. We have experience in many different areas which give us a unique perspective on the many disciplines that horses perform.
Our equine facility is complete with 4 stalls, surgery suite, in house laboratory, and staff dedicated to the well being of your horse. We provide ambulatory and in-clinic services. We prioritize continuous learning and professional growth, requiring our veterinarians and technical staff to attend continuing education annually. In our pursuit of excellent equine healthcare, we offer our exclusive Wellness Program to ensure proactive care for your horses.
Meet the Doctors
Stephanie S. Rubie D.V.M
Dr. Rubie received her bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1988 and her DVM degree from Michigan State University in 1994. She is a lifelong resident of the Grand Rapids area where she actively showed hunters as a junior rider. While she practices all aspects of equine veterinary medicine, she has a special interest in reproduction and acupuncture. She was trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine at The Chi Institute near Ocala, FL in 2010. If you are interested in integrating Eastern and Western philosophy in the care of your horse, feel free to contact Dr. Rubie.
In her free time, she stays fit running and walking her canine companions and, most recently, getting back in the saddle and learning to play polo!
Jeffrey D. Bunn D.V.M
Dr. Bunn is a 1990 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary
Medicine. He established Equine Medical LLC in 1995 and was joined by Dr. Rubie in 1997. He has been Adjunct Associate Professor for the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine since 1999, where he participates in the training of future veterinarians during several 3 week periods during the year.
Dr. Bunn has special interest in Podiatry which entails hoof lameness and treatments. He also enjoys practicing dentistry, especially oral disease & treatments. He has owned and exhibited horses for 37 years. His current hobbies include running and fly fishing.
